Frequently Asked Questions
Post your trip (whether you’re driving or looking for a ride), and others can find you through search. When you find a match, chat to work out the details—pickup location, timing, cost sharing.
Once you’ve agreed on everything, confirm the ride with a "handshake." After the trip, you both rate each other to build trust for future rides.
Yes! RidePost is completely free to use. We don’t charge fees, take commissions, or process payments. How you split costs with your travel companion is between you two.
Trust is built through transparency. Before committing to a ride:
- Check the other person’s ratings and ride history
- Chat to get a feel for who they are
- Meet in a public place for pickup
- Tell a friend or family member your plans
- Trust your gut—if something feels off, don’t go
If you ever feel unsafe or experience harassment, report it to safety@ridepost.app immediately.
After each completed ride, both parties rate each other. Simple thumbs up or thumbs down—no complicated star systems. Your profile shows two scores:
- Your rating—how others rated you as a travel companion
- How you rate others—whether you rate fairly or harshly
This dual rating system helps identify people who are both good companions and fair raters.
Life happens—we get it. If you need to cancel:
- Let your travel companion know as soon as possible via chat
- Be honest about why (plans changed, emergency, etc.)
- Give them time to make alternate arrangements
Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations will affect your ratings and may result in account restrictions.
You can delete your account from your profile settings. This will:
- Remove your profile and trip history
- Delete your messages (visible to you—recipients keep their copies)
- Remove your ratings (aggregate scores remain anonymized)
Account deletion is permanent and completed within 30 days. If you change your mind, you’ll need to create a new account.
Yes. From any user’s profile or chat, you can block them. Blocked users:
- Won’t see your trips in search results
- Can’t message you
- Won’t know they’ve been blocked
You can manage blocked users from your settings.
Privacy. We don’t want to track where you are or store your coordinates. By using text descriptions like "YYJ Airport" or "Downtown Victoria," you control how specific you want to be.
Share exact addresses only in chat, after you’ve decided to ride together. This gives you control over your location data—not us.
Troubleshooting
I’m not receiving login emails
Check your spam or junk folder—login links sometimes end up there. If you use Gmail, check your Promotions or Updates tabs.
Still nothing? Make sure you’re using the same email address you signed up with. If the problem persists, email us at hello@ridepost.app.
The app isn’t loading properly
Try these steps:
- Refresh the page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
- Clear your browser cache
- Try a different browser
- Check if you have ad blockers or privacy extensions that might interfere
If it’s still not working, let us know what browser and device you’re using—that helps us debug.
I matched with someone but they’re not responding
People get busy! Give them a day or two. If you need to coordinate sooner, you might want to message other potential matches as well.
If someone consistently doesn’t respond after confirming rides, that will show in their ratings over time.
