About RidePost

Connecting travellers, one ride at a time.

The Story

We’ve all been there—heading to the airport while a neighbour’s making the same trip an hour later. Or scrolling through Facebook groups hoping to find someone going your direction. It’s awkward, inefficient, and honestly? A bit sketchy.

RidePost was born from a simple idea: what if finding a ride was as easy as posting a trip and letting others find you? No complicated algorithms, no surge pricing, no tracking your every move. Just people helping people get where they’re going.

We started in Victoria, BC—a city where the airport run is a rite of passage and everyone seems to know someone heading downtown. Now we’re building a community of travellers who’d rather share a ride than go it alone.

What Makes Us Different

Privacy by Design

We don’t store your location coordinates. You describe where you’re going in your own words—"YYJ Airport," "Downtown Victoria," "Near UVic." Share exact addresses only when you’re comfortable, directly in chat.

No Payment Processing

We’re not a taxi service and we don’t take a cut. You and your travel companion sort out cost-sharing however works for you—cash, e-transfer, buying coffee. That’s between you two.

Honest Ratings

Everyone rates everyone—and we show both scores. You’ll see not just how others rated someone, but how fairly that person rates others. Harsh raters get flagged. Fair ones shine.

Local First

We’re not trying to blanket the planet. RidePost works best when your community uses it. We’re growing city by city, starting where it matters most—right here.

What We Believe

  • Your data belongs to you—not advertisers, not data brokers, not us.
  • Technology should make human connection easier, not replace it.
  • Simple tools that work beat complicated ones that promise the moon.
  • Trust is built through transparency, not terms of service nobody reads.
